Over the Gill?

January 11th, 2010

gillCould it be, that a favorite font of mine could be going out of style?

I noticed Gill Sans on sale at the end of '09 at bargain basement clearance prices on a couple of popular download sites. Is this the style forecast for 2010 that will devastate me? Oh the disappointment that would bring! I so adore Gill Sans and I am not ready to give it up. You are The Little Black Dress of fonts, my beloved Gill. With a change of accessories on the page, you can be sophisticated and serious or cute and trendy. After looking at some of the popular new fonts that have recently been released, I am no less attached to my good ole Gill, (and can't help but notice how similar a lot of these "new" ones are to my old favorite too). Oh, I'm probably just being paranoid. Gill Sans is still a strong font choice for the brochure I'm working on, and will not come across like a 1996 "Friends" haircut in the translation to CMYK.
